Turning your design into an applique-ready file
Applique digitizing is the process of converting a design into a stitch file built specifically for applique embroidery β where a piece of fabric is stitched onto a garment instead of being fully filled with thread. The file needs three distinct stitch stages: a placement line showing where the fabric goes, a tackdown stitch that secures the fabric edge, and a cover stitch (usually satin) that finishes the border cleanly.
Get any of those stages wrong and the fabric piece shifts during stitching, the edges fray, or the cover stitch doesn’t fully hide the raw fabric edge. That’s the difference between a professional applique digitizing service and a design run through generic embroidery settings: we build every file around how applique actually gets sewn, not around a full-fill shortcut.
Applique we've digitized and stitched
Applique digitizing for every placement
Left Chest
Clean, compact applique for polos, uniforms, and branded workwear.
Right Chest
Secondary logo or wordmark, often paired with a left chest design.
Full Chest
Large, centered applique across the entire chest panel.
Full Back
Large-format designs stitched edge-to-edge across the back panel.
T-Shirt Back
Even tackdown across bigger fabric pieces so the shirt doesn't pucker.
Upper Back (Yoke)
Positioned across the yoke seam on workwear and western-style shirts.
Cap & Hat
Built for curved, cylindrical hooping so fabric pieces sit flat.
Hat Front
The primary placement on structured and unstructured caps.
Hat Back
Smaller applique placed above the adjustable strap.
Hat Side
Compact side-panel placement, often paired with a front logo.
Beanie
Adjusted tackdown for stretchy knit fabric that shifts more than woven caps.
Jacket & Letterman
Bold, varsity-style applique for heavier outerwear fabric.
Sleeve
Scaled and positioned for the narrow, curved space around the arm.
Upper Sleeve (Bicep)
Placed high on the sleeve for team names, flags, or secondary logos.
Lower Sleeve (Forearm)
Compact placement lower on the sleeve, for cuffs and forearm branding.
Shoulder
Small-format applique across the shoulder seam for team branding.
Down the Leg (Side)
Vertical placement along the outer leg seam of pants or track bottoms.
Front Hip
Compact placement near the hip pocket, common on shorts and pants.
Back Pocket
Sized and shaped to fit within or around a back pocket.
Seat / Rear
Placement across the seat panel, common on athletic and dance wear.
Blanket & Throw
Softer tackdown settings suited to fleece, minky, and other blanket fabrics.
Baby & Kids
Lighter density and gentler stitching for onesies, bibs, and soft garments.
Bag Face
Sized and centered for the front panel of totes, duffels, and backpacks.
